A veteran of more than 30 years in the investment industry, Mr. Cordes co-founded AssetMark (NYSE;AMK), a leading US wealth management services provider with over $50 billion in AUM, and served as CEO and Executive Co-Chairman from 1996 – 2016.
He co-founded the Cordes Foundation with his wife Marty, and speaks and writes extensively on the field of impact investing. His work has been profiled in publications including Forbes, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, FT and The Economist. Mr. Cordes is also a co-founder and Board member of ImpactAssets, a non-profit Donor Advised Fund established to catalyze capital for impact investments, and serves on the Boards of Align Impact and the Lynn University Social Impact Lab.
Mr. Cordes is the co-author of “The Art of Investing & Portfolio Management”, published in 2004 by McGraw Hill, and was recognized as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005. He holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
He joined the MicroVest Holdings Board in July 2011, and previously served on the MicroVest I, LP Investment Committee from October 1st, 2009 through September 30th, 2010.
