Ms. Scherer is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at MicroVest, responsible for overseeing the firm’s legal and compliance functions including governance, fund management, investment advisory products and operations and portfolio investments. She also provides legal advice to the Board and is a voting member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Before joining MicroVest in 2017, Ms. Scherer was Lead Counsel, Corporate Affairs at the Inter-American Investment Corporation (today IDB Invest), the private sector arm of the Inter-American Development Bank Group. In that capacity Ms. Scherer worked on a wide range of development finance operations through Latin America and the Caribbean and provided legal advice on institutional matters such as industry initiatives, new product development, IT, tax, HHRR, internal controls and treasury.
Prior to IDB, Ms. Scherer worked in the Caracas and Washington D.C. offices of Baker & McKenzie, advising clients on corporate, finance and securities law, cross-border transactions, and the intricacies of doing business in regulated industries and in developing economies.
Ms. Scherer is a dual national (Venezuela, USA) and is admitted to practice in civil and common law. She holds an LL.B. summa cum laude from Universidad Católica Andres Bello in Caracas and an LL.M. in Law and Economics from the George Mason University School of Law in Arlington VA.
